ACC's Senior Vice President Attends Employment Seminars in Singapore

ACC Singapore members were delighted to welcome Robin Grossfeld, ACC's senior vice president and chief global membership officer, to its 1st Annual Meeting of Associate Members and seminar in November. ACC Singapore, in collaboration with Ashurst, held a seminar on "Employment Termination Update: A Comparative View of Singapore, Indonesia and People's Republic of China (PRC)." Grant Spooner, head of employment (Asia Pacific) at Barclays Bank, and George Cooper, partner at Ashurst, provided insight into the region's common law issues, employment protections and termination entitlements, and reviewed the unfair and unlawful termination processes."

With so many changes to Singapore's Employment Act this year, the responsibilities and relationships between employers and employees have come under the spotlight. Combined with trade and freedom of movement accelerating in the region, in-house counsel need to ensure they understand the impacts on these relationships," explained Christopher Buay, ACC board member and senior litigation and corporate counsel at Tyco International Asia. "The comparisons made between Singapore, Indonesia and PRC gave the talk an interesting dimension and was very helpful from a practitioner's view."
