ACC Greater Philadelphia Hosts Annual Gala

O n October 26, 2017, ACC Greater Philadelphia held its Annual Gala at the Museum of the American Revolution, Philadelphia’s newest museum. Located just steps away from Independence Hall, the museum has an expansive collection of American Revolutionary War-era weapons, personal items, documents, and works of art, including George Washington’s battle field tent. The event is a yearly celebration for members.

It also serves as a “thank you” to the many sponsors who make all of Greater Philadelphia’s wonderful programs possible for members at no additional cost. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of plaques for the students and corporations who participated in the Corporate Diversity Internship Program, which provides stipends to companies who agree to hire a diverse law student in their law department for the summer.

This year, 15 member companies hired 15 interns. Most of the students and corporate representatives were present at the Gala to accept their plaques. The plaques were presented by Sadeq Khan, associate general counsel and director of compliance at Vertical Screen, who not only runs the program but was also a student in the program himself. He is currently a member of ACC Greater Philadelphia’s board of directors. In addition to a terrific dinner and a chance to mingle throughout the exhibits, the evening was capped off by dancing to the fabulous band, Jelly Roll.
