O n June 19, the ACC Foundation held its annual Global Women in Law & Leadership Symposium and Honors Dinner at the United Nations in New York City. This year's global event sponsor was Paul Hastings, and the program brought together 200 high-level professionals to delve into the many issues women across the globe face in the workplace, particularly in the corporate legal profession.

The afternoon symposium — hosted in collaboration with the ACC New York City Women's Group — kicked off with a keynote address by Ritu Bhasin, best-selling author of The Authenticity Principle: Resist Conformity, Embrace Differences, and Transform How You Live, Work, and Lead, on authentic leadership and unlocking the power of differences. Following, Ellevate Network's CEO Kristy Wallace gave a TED Talk-style presentation about re-defining activism, while Diversity Lab's CEO Carey Stacy moderated a discussion with Rhonda Joy McLean (formerly Time, Inc.), Tara Giunta (Paul Hastings), and Michelle Ifill (Verizon) about leading through change — sharing stories of success and failure.

At the evening's dinner, the ACC Foundation honored Sandie Okoro, senior vice president and group general counsel at World Bank; Hon. Ann Claire Williams, retired US Circuit Judge of the US Court of Appeals; and Dr. Anne Summers, journalist, author, and political activist, for their instrumental efforts in advancing opportunities for women and diverse groups around the world. Moderated by MSNBC and NBC News' Richard Lui, the honorees also participated in an interview about their accomplishments, leadership styles, and advice for female business and legal leaders. The event concluded with a reception on the United Nations Delegates Dining Room's terrace.
