On July 24, the ACC Singapore Chapter once again welcomed its members to its most awaited annual women’s event. This year’s event is special as it marked the first major event organized by the chapter’s newly formed Women’s Committee.

The full-house event was held at the very classy Tiffany & Co venue at ION Orchard, and the attendees had the privilege of listening to two very engaging speakers, Diana The Hui Ling, director of business operations and strategy and previously chief counsel for APAC Middle East and Africa, Aon; and Chris Chan, general counsel and head of government affairs, Lazada and RedMart.

Group of people lined up on a staircase in a biege foyer.

The theme of the evening was “Authenticity: How to Succeed While Remaining True to Yourself.” The speakers shared valuable insights into their respective journeys, which were anything but straight forward. The Hui Ling moved from a legal role to a more business focused position quite unexpectedly, and Chan told the audience about his move from a good job in the US to Singapore and how life has changed for him since — he now lives on a boat!

They spoke about how they had to change and adjust to new challenges and new environments, taking on new responsibilities that are not typically required of a lawyer or a counsel while remaining true to themselves without compromising success or their ambitions.

The Hui Ling and Chan also acknowledged people whom they met along the way who made positive impacts on their journeys. The inspiring evening ended with everyone walking away with a Tiffany & Co door gift, generously sponsored by Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee, and a few attendees left with lovely jewelry purchases from the store.
