ACC Charlotte Hosts Tour of Hydroponics Farm

On March 23, ACC Charlotte hosted a tour of an urban hydroponics farm — a unique twist on their annual tour of a manufacturing facility. Held at Rogue Farms Urban Hydroponics in Charlotte, North Carolina, the night began with a networking event at the farm, where attendees enjoyed Spanish wine and hors d’oeuvres. Owner Nicole Burnette gave a talk about the history of the farm, her passion for the urban farming of specialty produce, and her plans for future operational expansion. Members asked myriad questions on topics including the sourcing of plants and equipment, the use of local chefs to grow the business, and the legal aspects of running an urban farm.

After the tour, members were treated to a presentation of the Old Masters by Siu Challons, chair of the art department of Queens University, along with local artist Nick Napolentano. Siu lead the group through a lively journey of various works of art and Nick showed atteendes how the masters have influenced his work.

This unique and well received event continues the ACC tradition of providing informative events and networking opportunities for members.
